The Fremont Drum Online DrumBlog is the “Heartbeat” of our Fremont Drum Online community. It includes many exciting categories filled with articles you can explore to learn about and enjoy Afro-Caribbean rhythms, music, history, culture and community.
If you have suggestions for new categories, topics of interest or articles you’d like to see, please use the comment section or “message us” link at the end of this article. Our exciting DrumBlog categories include:
- Artist Spotlight – Featuring local, regional, national, and international performers at the top of their game. Our first artist is from Seattle, master drummer Arturo Rodriquez.
- Member Showcase – A place to showcase the original musical songs / compositions of our members! We start with a batch of original songs by Will Matthews
- Drum Group/Band Showcase – A place to showcase the music of non-professional drum groups sprouting up all over the world! Our first submission is from a local Seattle drum group called Jambient.
- Spotify Playlists/Musicians – Carefully crafted playlists, each focusing on a dozen or so musicians from various countries. First up, Nigeria Playlist #1, Mali Playlist #1, and Senegal/Gambia Playlist #1.
- Member Bonus Rhythms – ESSENTIAL and UNLIMITED members can look hear for new, free bonus rhythms not currently included in your memberships. You’ll enjoy one-drum, two-drum, three-drum rhythms and more!
- Rhythm Culture – Introduces the background and histories of many of the rhythms on this site.
- Drums, Percussion, and More – Articles exploring a variety of drum related topics. We start with an article titled “Choosing a Hand Drum”.
- Deep Dive – In-depth explorations into drum and drum related issues. Our first article introduces a relatively unknown spiritual/musical tradition from Cuba called Arara.
- Site Features & Support – Finally, any hints, tips, suggestions we can offer to help you get the most our of this site can be found in this support category.
- Guest Articles – Articles written by artists and members.
- The Drum Beat – All free newsletters sent to our Fremont Drum Worldwide Community of Drummers can be found here. Did you notice an article topic in one of our past community emails but can’t find it in your email – or don’t want to look? You’ll find it here.
Our goal is to make our DrumBlog a vibrant place to learn, create, share, build community and be inspired by Afro-Caribbean rhythms, instruments and culture!
